Laser surgery
This is indicated when coag is unresponsive to drug therapy, when patients are unable to tolerate the drugs or because of non-adherence to the prescribed regimen. Specifically, argon laser trabeculoplasty is performed to cut several tiny holes in the trabecular meshwork. This causes scars which on contraction will widen the channels of the meshwork and make it easier for the aqueous humour to flow out and reduce the Iop (Kanski 2007). usually, one eye is treated at a time to allow the procedure’s effect to be assessed and to avoid total visual impairment. results are evaluated after six weeks.
