glycerol without supplementation). Addition of palmitic, stearic,
oleic and linoleic acids provided increases of 1.9, 1.6, 1.6
and 1.7 in maximum productivity, respectively. Maximum
carotenoids concentrations varied from 0.47 to 0.51 g L1 in the
supplemented media, against 0.41 g L1 obtained in the control
(Table 4). At the time of maximum production (71 h), the
concentrations of carotenoids per g of biomass were very similar
among stearic acid (0.025 g g1), oleic acid (0.024 g g1) and linoleic
