Delegation
Infoblox can be used to host the main external authoritative domains for a company's Internet presence. DNSSEC can be used to secure these domains and all the management capabilities provided with Infoblox can be maximised.
For services that need to be globally load balanced, a sub-domain can be delegated to the GTM and an alias (CNAME) defined in the parent domain (on Infoblox) that points to the "Wide IP" FQDN that is defined in the GTM. This means that Infoblox handles most of the incoming DNS requests from the Internet, but any requests for load balanced services are handled by the GTM.
The GTM's real-time DNSSEC signer ensures that the delegated FQDNs are also signed and a full chain of trust can be established by importing the GTM's DS record into the parent domain residing on the Infoblox infrastructure.
