The Greater Accra Region of Ghana has the highest population density in the country owing to in-migration and a high population growth rate (Ghana Districts, n.d.; Ghana Statistical Services, n.d.).ทThe rapid rate of urbanisation coupled with commercial and indus-trial activities has resulted in high volumes of waste generation which attract a lot of scavenging activities at various solid waste generation zones and disposal sites. The two metropolitan areas (Accra and Tema) in the Greater Accra Region had much of their waste disposed off at three landfill sites; “Mallam SCC” landfill, “Abokobi” landfill site
