Humanistic adult education draws from some of the same sources as liberal adult education. The emphasis of the humanistic educator, however, is not upon the works of the past and the values these possess, but upon the freedom and dignity of the individual that is highlighted in this tradition. Humanistic adult educators are concerned with the development of the whole person with a special emphasis upon the affective dimensions of the personality.-In taking this particular stance, humanistic adult educators are more closely allied with some existentialist and phenomenological philosophers.
