Residual strength parameters, expressed as the slope of the best-fit line through the three data points, are angles of internal friction ranging between 12° and 24°. The largest value was obtained for the sample that did not have the coarse fraction removed. Smallest values, 12°-17°, were consistently obtained with the ring-shear device on samples that had the coarse fraction removed. Whether the fraction removed was +30 mesh or +230 mesh made only a slight difference in the strength parameters.
