Dual staining for BrdU and 3ß-HSD demonstrated that
although relatively few of the BrdU-positive cells also
expressed 3ß-HSD, most of the proliferating steroidogenic
cells were present early in the oestrous cycle (Fig. 4a). By day
8 and thereafter, proliferating steroidogenic cells were
observed only rarely (Fig. 4b,c).
