Cold Work

A Cold Work Permit shall be used for general non-routine work not covered by another type of permit such as, but not limited to:

• General mechanical maintenance work on pumps, generator air compressor and other process equipment

• Pneumatic instrument maintenance

• Construction maintenance carried out

• Spading and de-spading
• Removal of handrails, gratings, ladders, etc.
• Installation of instrumentation pipe work, cables and terminations (no live tie-ins)
• Scaffold erection and dismantling

• Working at height where scaffold cannot be erected

• Special Cleaning Activities

• Use of Ionizing radiation

• Use of a hazardous chemicals

• Odd bolting

• A heavy or difficult lift.

• Topping up diesel or other fuel.
• Lubricating valves and chokes.
• Maintenance greasing routines
