As we begin to examine the underlying recursive cycles and patterns of organization that exist in our various systems of interest, we discover sets of relationships that define the system. Through this process we explore the degree of openness and cooperation that exists among systems and determine whether open communication and information sharing is encouraged or not. We discover system boundaries where attempts are made to limit and centralize information. We notice the degree to which the system of interest displays unpredictable and dynamical behavior. These and other aspects of human social systems are critical in determining how we lead and manage such systems.
