1. Introduction
Arsenic contamination of drinking water extracted from tube wells
has been found over the last twenty years in many countries in the
world, but especially in South Asian regions such as Bangladesh and
theWest Bengal region of India. This is considered one of the most significant
natural pollutions in the world, with many millions of people
now chronically exposed. Remarkable percentages (10–20%) of people
examined in Bihar (India) and Bangladesh were identified to have
typical skin lesions and cancers associated with arsenic exposure
