Interior Minister Jarupong Ruangsuwan said on Sunday that governors would be instructed to contain planned political protests.
Saying before the meeting with governors today, he said that governors should discuss with local political leaders over possible legal actions should protesters violate the laws.
He said though political gatherings can be organised, protesters should not cause disturbance to the general public, like blocking roads. He added that provincial problems should be addressed at the provincial level.
There were talks that many groups plan to stage gatherings in Bangkok after the parliamentary session reopens on August 1. Several crucial bills are slated for vetting.
