In orchids, it
was found to positively affect floral production in Dendrobium
‘Eiskul’, where a particular type of chitosan, oligomeric chitosan
with an 80% degree of deacetylation (O80), but not polymeric
chitosan or oligomeric preparations with different degrees of
acetylation, caused an increase in the chloroplast size and in the
number of inflorescences produced, suggesting also then the
specificity of the chitosan molecule and plant species that will
respond positively
