Although several software tools exist to model enterprise architectures, hardly any
attention has been paid to the analysis of their quantitative aspects. For detailed
design models of (distributed) systems, such as computing and telecommunication
systems, and manufacturing systems, a broad range of performance analysis
techniques have been proposed. There are very efficient static techniques that
offer relatively inaccurate first estimates or bounds for the performance. Analytical
solutions of queuing models are more accurate but also more computation intensive, while they still impose certain restrictions on the models. With detailed
quantitative simulations, any model can be analysed with arbitrary accuracy,
although this presumes that accurate input parameters are available.
