Narin began having music therapy sessions when she was 16. Her mother said:
“After developing normally for the first eight months of her life, Narin stopped responding to us completely. Eye-contact was lost and she had no speech until the age of five. She would put her fingers in her ears to block out noise and she suffered from severe heightened anxiety. She was diagnosed with autism, a pervasive social and communication disorder which left me feeling trapped in a situation of despair."
“From day one, music therapy has had a remarkable effect on Narin. She’s noticeably calmer after the sessions. As well as stringing many more words together, she is patient and confident. After a year of one-to-one music therapy, Narin joined a group which enabled her to mix with and be accepted by people of her age. Now she has sessions with another young person, bringing greater musical and social challenges. The POSITIVE impact Nordoff Robbins has had on our lives is immeasurable."
