As previously mentioned, a reasonably accurate fuel balance is important to understanding
the impact that future energy reduction and other fuel-related projects will have on the fuel system. As far as possible, the fuel balance should also take into consideration
the impact of future projects, such as new process units or expansions, which are planned
for the site. In developing the fuel balance, it is assumed that all consumed fuel flows are
known from meters at the furnaces, produced fuel is metered at the source, and fuel gas
compositions are available through either laboratory or online analysis.
