Acid mine drainage is generally produced by the chemical oxidation of pyrite with oxygen contained in the seeping water supplied from rain and snow. Inflow of acid mine drainage to the stream often limits the use of water resource and severely affects the inhabitation of fish and benthos such as macroinvertebrate and algae in streams by the high concentrations of acid and metals contained in the mine drainage (Bell, 1971; Nichols Jr. and Bulow, 1973; Letterman and Mitsch, 1978; Moon and Lucostic, 1979).
