The photobioreactor was a 6-L glass columni-form flask with an inner diameter of approximately 13 cm and a height of approximately 41 cm (Fig. 1). The working volume was 5-L. There are eight light sources (Cold-cathode Fluorescent Lamp, CCFL) in the interior of photobioreactor. The microalgae were cultivated in 5-L autoclaved modified BBM medium in photobioreactor to evaluate their biomass growth and lipid production under different nitrogen source concentrations, CO2 concentrations and illumination period.
