Field evaluation of cassava cultivars for CAD resistance
Following the in vitro and the green house CAD screening, the cassava cultivars were evaluated in the field for two planting seasons . The field experiments were performed in an area with a high CAD disease pressure. Ten cassava cultivars were planted on ridges in 5 m rows and 1 m × 1 m spacing be tween rows. Plan ting was carried out in a randomized complete block design and each cultivar contained 10 plants per block that was replicated five times for each treatment . Data for lesion size, disease severity score, percentage defoliation and wilt were recorded at monthly intervals for a period of 6 months .
