When I was a child in Girl scouts, we played a game called gossip. We would all gather and sit in a line, then the girl at one end of the line would whisper to the girl next to her a simple statement, such as, I have pink shoes. Each girl would pass the statement on to the next girl, until the last girl got the statement, that girl had to stand up and tell the group her statement, and the statement I have pink shoes, would have changed into something as unusual as I have sink toes. This little anecdote proves that gossip has been around us all our lives, and games like that only teach us that gossip is not a bad thing. I believe gossip is in ways good and bad.
Games, such as the one I just described, are healthy forms of gossip. They do not hurt anybody and they never will. Other forms of gossip, that are not so hurtful are also healthy. An example would be, Sandy got a job and got fired from it the same day. Sandy is not going to care if this rumor does get to her, she might even laugh. This form of gossip is just a use to pass time and bond with people.

Then there is the in-between, according to some people would be hurt by a statement like Sandy is such a blonde, while others would laugh at it. Sensitive people take strong objection to bad gossip, and tougher people do not seem to care as much. In this respect, it seems the world would be a better place without bad gossip.
