HR Planning
Like a manager in any other department in the organization, the HR manager has to plan. The basic process in IIR planning is no different from that of other departments. The manager has to set objectives, evaluate the alternatives, select the most suitable course of action, assess the results and make adjustment to ensure the objectives can be achieved. The purpose of HR planning is to develop schemes for the acquisition, management, organization and use of people in the organization, so that they contribute as effectively as possible towards the achievement of organizational goals (Lovington and Hal,2002:624). HR planning is a specified activity that deals with both the short-term and Long-term IIR requirements of the organization. In specific terms, the HR parker has to estimate:
