introduced a new BP classification termed ‘prehypertension’ that was developed to identify individuals at high risk of developing hypertension[3]. Studies have shown that the progression rate from prehypertension to hypertension over a 2- to 4-year period ranges from 30–40%[29, 30]. A 2011 meta-analysis that investigated predictors of prehypertension progression identified 6 studies that provided information on predictors of progression from prehypertension to hypertension, only one of which investigated physical activity as a predictive factor[31]
