One variable to attract a lot of attention in efforts to explain behaviour is attitude. This report provides a model based on the assumption that attitude is one of three factors determining behaviour, together with perceived control and subjective norms.
The younger children were more inclined to think that drinking squash was healthy, and girls were more positive about drinking a healthy drink than boys. The younger group held more positive attitudes towards drinking squash and fizzy drinks than the older group. Overall, the teenagers were not much inclined to comply with other people’s wishes. The older age group in particular claimed to be unaffected by their friends’ opinions of their behaviour.
