Marvel at churning whirlpool.
What ' s happening here ?
a vortex is commonly associated with the whirling motion of a fluid. the water in this cylinder is let out through a hole at the bottom and conducted upwards by a pump before it gets directed along the side of the cylinder. when the water in cylinder begins to circulate , it experiences an inward pull towards the centre. this pull is known as the centripetal force. the water molecules pick up speed as they move inwards, resulting in a horizontal spiral.at the bottom of this vertex , the centripetal forces acting on the water molecules are greatest because the circles are smallest , while the tangential speeds are maximal.
