If patients have pre-existing oedema,
practitioners should consider aftercare of
Doppler ultrasound investigations and
compression hosiery (Wingfield, 2008).
Leg elevation and exercise can improve
venous return and reduce venous pressure
and this may help to improve the skin.
However, there is no evidence on the benefits
of these interventions (Duffill, 2008;
Barron et al, 2007).
