2. Experimental
2.1. Materials
Soybean molasses (Table 1) was obtained from Setecta, a soybean
processing company in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The
samples were stored in plastic containers in a freezer at
−4 ◦C.
Lyophilized S. cerevisiae strain Y904 (Mauri of Brazil) was used for
the preparation of the inoculum by adding distilled water and agitated
at 130 rpm for 2 h to ensure proper hydration. The enzyme
StarMax® AGSL, provided courtesy of Prozyn Biosolutions, was used
in the hydrolysis of soybean molasses.
The fermentation and enzymatic hydrolysis of soybean molasses
were performed in a B. Braun Biotech International batch bioreactor
with a total volume of 2.0 l and a working volume of 1.5 l.
