The incidence of supernumerary teeth in panoramic radiograph
This study is to investigate the incidence of supernumerary teeth in 1603 panoramic radiographs consisted 866 females and 637 males with age range 6-30 years and no history of systemic disease, skeleto-facial deformities and previous extraction of supernumerary teeth. The result showed that the incidence of supernumerary teeth in 3-26 percent (49 samples) in total sample with 1.48 percent (22 samples) in females and 1.8 percent (27 samples) in male. In the group with supernumerary teeth the number of hyperdontia teeth is found one, two and three with pencentage 83.67 (41 samples), 14.29 (7 samples) and 2.04 (1 samples) respectively and the region of occurence is no statistical difference (a equal to 0.05). However, they are seen in the maxilla more than in mandible with the proportion 7.31.
