s the important carrier to put industrial ecological theory into practice.
Several scholars have done research to explore how to construct
eco-industrial chain from different perspectives. These studies can
be roughly classified into four categories: ① research on ecoindustry
system construction via material and energy circulation
analysis. There are four representative groups under this category:
Kourounis et al. [1] and Ko [2] constructed “steelmaking slag–
blended cement” and “waste tire–active carbon” industrial chains
with waste recycling use as the fundamental principles; Ouyang et
al. [3] in their study of sugar-refining waste liquid treatment in
Southern China’s Hainan Province, proposed an ecological pattern
of multi-utilization of materials and designed an eco-industrial chain
of “sugar refining–alcohol distillation–energy provision–agriculture”;
Dai [4] analyzed the energy and material metabolism in steel enterprises
and further proposed how to construct and optimize an
industrial chain; Xia [5] identified the best industrial eco-chain construction
of pachyrhizus fuel ethanol based on energy method; Shi
[6], with the ecological principles and MFA methodology, suggested
a framework model of resources metabolism for industrial
ecosystems and an analysis indicator system based on “input–use–
output–circular symbiosis” for resources metabolism to complement
this model. On the basis of the indicator system, they explored an
assessment method by using Fuzzy Analysis and Problem Tree tool
for resources metabolism analysis, which supported the industrial
ecological management in methodology. ② Research on ecoindustrial
chain construction by analyzing ecosystem structure. Li
[7], guided by the theory of “keystone species” in ecology, set up
an eco-industrial chain for Xaoyi City with coking industry as the
pillar industry; Wang and Zhang [8], getting the hints from keystone
species, food chain and food web, niche and law of tolerance
etc., focused on building industrial chain of Shuozhou Eco-industrial
