The results of this study suggest that pharmacists were responsive
and amenable to participating in a review of adherence for
their clients. All returned comment sheets by fax indicating
each participant’s level of adherence based on renewal patterns.
Based on this finding and the potential lack of reliability of pill
count data described, pharmacists may be an underutilized
partner in client follow-up, discussion ofmedication adherence
issues and research. Pharmacist feedback may provide clinicians
and researchers with reliable data to determine correlation
with client self-report of adherence.
