PARAPHRASING:
1st stanza:-
The poet tells us that he went through a mowing field of hay. The winter had began arriving at that time of the year. Because of the cold the hay that had been standing upright was now laying smoothly on the ground with the heavy dew. It had half blocked the path of the garden with its death.
2nd stanza:-
The poet reaches the garden ground and the simple birds that had been whirring happily in the warmer months but now their whirring seemed sadder than anything. They had lost their innocence and now it was all about business and survival.
3rd stanza:-
The poet looks at a naked tree that has lost all is leaves. The last leaf had become brown in color and as it softly fell on the ground the poet thought that his thoughts were the cause of its falling. The tree had now become bare and naked for the harshest time of the year.
4th stanza:-
The poet ends his walk as he picks the last aster flower which has now faded but it had been once colorful and in its prime. Te poet uses this remaining flower to bring joy to someone for whom he cared as we see that he takes the flower for someone.
