The company’s strategic acquisitions enhanced its business portfolio and distribution network. In October 2012, the company
acquired the business process outsourcing division of Australia's largest business service provider, Salmat Limited. Fuji Xerox Co.,
Ltd. acquired stock of Salmat Document Management Solutions Pty. Limited (SDMS), and renamed it Fuji Xerox Document
Management Solutions Pty. Limited as its consolidated subsidiary. The acquisition of SDMS provides the company with the
capability to offer BPO services in Australia. In March 2012, the company acquired SonoSite, a pioneer and leader in bedside and
point-of-care ultrasound technology. In 2011, Fujifilm acquired 100% equity in Turkey's sales agency for endoscopy products,
Filmed Tibbi Cihazlar Pazarlama Ve Ticaret A.S., through its European subsidiary Fujifilm Europe GmbH. After the acquisition
Filmed became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujifilm. This acquisition enables the company to launch a direct-sales system for
endoscopy products in Turkey. During the same month, Fujifilm Corporation and Merck entered into a definitive agreement by
which Fujifilm acquired the Merck BioManufacturing Network, a leading provider of contract manufacturing and development
services for the biopharmaceutical industry and wholly owned by Merck. Acquisition of Merck would enable the company to utilize
the expertise of Merck and launch new innovative products in the field of biopharmacy. In 2010, the company, through its
subsidiary Fujifilm Electronic Materials U.S.A., Inc., purchased 50% membership interests in dedicated CMP slurry manufacturer
Planar Solutions, LLC. Such acquisitions by the company strengthen its revenue platform in the future.
