social networking is bringing benefits to the workplace. It is allowing people to keep in closer contact with former co-workers, to forge new connections with current co-workers, and to sustain relationships with colleagues from distant libraries, who in the past may have only been accessible during conferences. The communication and networking potential built into social networking, which on the one hand pushes boundaries and creates privacy risks, on the other has been used by many to propel their careers and make their names more widely known. As current popular social networks evolve and new social networks become available they will continue to impact the library world
