The charming plateaus of Antrim
Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1988, the nine Glens of Antrim were shaped as glaciers carved through the region’s steep plateau hills during the Ice Age. Inhabitants of the glen townships – Ballycastle, Waterfoot, Cushendun and Glenarm – are primarily descendants of the native Irish, and the Ulster and Hebridean Scots.
