HWAE is a mixture of a/b glucose in the ratio 1/1.3, with traces of some alifatic, non-sugar, compound(s) (signals at 1e3 ppm in the 1H-spectrum; not shown). The HWP is a mixture of a/b glucose at a 1/1 ratio, and a/b mannose at 0.6/0.4 ratio vs a-glucose (Fig. 1). Similarly to HWAE, in the 1H-NMR spectrum of HWP there are signals of some additional aliphatic compounds (1e3 ppm) and aromatics (6.5e9.5 ppm; not shown). The HWE is a mixture of a/b glucose, at a ratio of 1/1.65 and a-mannose; the a-mannose/ a-glucose ratio being 0.35.
