Sassanka who was from Bengal he destroyed root of Bodhi Tree three times in 610 A.D. The king Purnvarman who was descend from Mauryan posterity grow up again Bodhi Tree.
The beginning of the thirteenth century saw much of India in chaos due to the invasion by the Turkish Empire. These marauding Muslim soldiers destroyed temples and defaced statues. There is no record of exactly how and when Bodh Gaya was destroyed, but there are records of those who were compelled to flee the onslaught of the Turks who put to death innumerable monks and destroyed images, which they considered sacrilegious, as it did not conform to the edicts of Islam.
During the rule of the Turks, the Mahabodhi Temple fell to ruins, perhaps due to deliberate destruction, perhaps due to neglect, probably a combination of both and evidence of pilgrims becoming less and less.
The Temple itself became just one of the many ruins, neglected and forgotten. As the name of many cities and town had been changed after the Islamic invasion, trying to locate Bodh Gaya would have been quite a task for pilgrims coming from distant places.
