the level of CHOP
was reduced by 70–90% of the controls in both types of cells after
treatment. In the cells pre-treated with siRNA control, fucoidan
treatment markedly increased CHOP expression and PARP
cleavage over the cells with no fucoidan treatment. In contrast,
fucoidan treatment was unable to induce CHOP expression and
PARP cleavage in the CHOP-silenced cells, indicating that
silencing CHOP is able to block fucoidan-induced expression of
cleaved PARP. These data provide evidence that CHOP
participates in fucoidan-induced DNA damage.
