Looking at this process in more detail the
knowledge ‘construction’ process consists in the
creation or in the identification of knowledge
(Nonaka and Takeuchi, 1995). Knowledge construction
has been widely recognised to be strategically
important for organisational learning and innovation.
Knowledge is generated either as explicit or
tacit knowledge. Explicit knowledge consists in
anything that can be documented, archived and
codified, often with the help of IT. Tacit knowledge
lies in the minds of people and it is harder to
capture, evaluate, share and leverage.
