1.0 Scope
This procedure sets out the scope on how to monitor and measure the operational characteristics that could have a significant impact on the environment. Environmental aspects will be measured and monitored to ensure continual improvement in meeting the sites set environmental objectives and targets.
2.0 Responsibility
It is the responsibility of the Site General Manager to ensure that all of the site’s major environmental aspects & significant impacts are monitored and appropriately measured.
3.0 Requirements
3.1 Legal and Regulatory Requirements
Legal & regulatory requirements associated with this procedure as applicable at local sites are detailed within the Legal & Other Regulatory requirements registers as specified for each site.
3.2 Process Description
3.2.1 The monitoring and measurement of process parameters are carried out as per documented procedure on Process Monitoring and Control (LGL-GEN-PRO-P-01) and Continual Improvement (LGL-GEN-CPA-P-01). The monitoring and measurement related to environmental aspects are also covered in these procedures.
3.2.2 Monitoring and measurement focuses on the areas indicated in the Procedure for Operational Control (LGL-GEN-ENV-P-03), items 3.2.1 to 3.2.18.
3.2.3 The Site General Manager analyzes or reviews all data collected in management review meetings. The values are measured against the objectives and targets set in the table of Environmental Aspects & Significant Impacts.
3.2.4 If any item exceeds the target limits, the Site General Manager, or his designee, sends out a communication indicating the consequences.
3.2.5 Further meeting can be called to address the consequences. During this meeting, the analysis of data is presented.
4.0 Performance Measures
4.1 Key parameters of the operations and activities that have significant environmental impact are monitored on a regular basis.
4.2 Records to track performance, relevant operational controls and review of the organization’s objectives and targets are available.
4.3 Results as well as analysis of monitoring and measurement are reviewed at Management Review meetings.
5.0 Training Requirements
