This study found significant impacts of the expectation components on the propensity to support and purchase eco-friendlyfuel vehicles. The study revealed that, while the components ofcost and safety strongly influence individuals' support for ecofriendly fuel vehicles, cost and comfort influence decision makingto purchase biofuel and electric vehicles. The results further indicate that the expectation toward cost is the only component thatconsistently explains the likelihood to influence individuals’ support and purchase of eco-friendly fuel vehicles. Interestingly, thesafety expectation is likely to determine the likelihood to supporteco-friendly fuel vehicles. However, the safety factor seems to beless important at the point of deciding whether to purchase ecofriendly fuel vehicles. By contrast, comfort does not influencewhether individuals merely support the idea of eco-friendly fuelvehicles, but it is a significant factor in considering whether topurchase biofuel and electric vehicles. Thus, individuals are influenced by different sets of factors regarding their general support ofeco-friendly fuel vehicles (cost and safety) than they are for specificdecisions about purchasing such vehicles (cost and comfort).
