Biochemical testing
All Colletotrichum species isolated from
coffee berries were tested for the ability to
utilize citrate or tartrate as a sole source of
carbon. All isolates from Thailand grew and
changed the colour of the indicator to a dark
blue to purple in the tartrate test (Table 5). In
the citrate test, four isolates of Colletotrichum
Group 1, 17 of Colletotrichum Group 2 and six
of Colletotrichum Group 3 were unable to
grow sufficiently to produce any colour change
