. . .it was a little six-week old baby who had been diagnosedwith a really severe tumour malignancy quite early on and it wasbasically untreatable. . .we said there were no further treatmentoptions. . .they didn’t think anything would work, but–and itwould be in the best interests of the child to not proceed andto just withdraw treatment, or to try one last round of chemoknowing that it probably wouldn’t make a difference. The familyopted for that because they only had six weeks with him. . . Itjust gave them a little bit of extra time (PICU FG 19-12).
