Notice Regarding IMDS Reporting Related To Conflict Minerals
In July 2014, OESA advised Ford Motor Company that several suppliers raised concerns
regarding Ford’s 2014 IMDS reporting requirements. After meeting with OESA and the
suppliers to understand their concerns, we have agreed to the revised IMDS reporting
requirements as outlined below.
Dear Supplier,
Earlier this year, Ford issued a communication requesting suppliers to check parts that had
been previously reported through IMDS as having no Tin, Tungsten, Tantalum, or Gold (3TG)
content. We requested suppliers to confirm whether any intentionally added 3TG was hidden in
the 10% joker allowed under the general IMDS reporting rules.
We are pleased to report that we have received supplier responses covering over 40,000
parts. The results indicated that less than 0.5 percent of parts contained 3TGs that had been
hidden (using the 10% joker) in the IMDS report. Based on this response, we have now
concluded our study of previously reported IMDS submissions.
Effectively immediately, we ask that suppliers fully report all intentionally added 3TG on all new
IMDS submissions. Specifically, we ask that intentionally added 3TG be reported to 0% and not
hidden in the 10% joker allowed under general IMDS reporting rules. We ask that you
communicate this expectation to your suppliers for all future IMDS reports. No additional action
is required regarding assessment of previous IMDS submissions.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
