Finally, it can be hypothesized that
hybrid animations also facilitate the understanding of solution procedures that are applied
to the problem model in an optimal way, as they can easily be related to this model due to
the fact that the representation of the problem’s structural features and of the solution
procedure are based on the same notational rules. Here, the changes over time that can be
depicted in an animation may be used to reflect these changes in problem states, thereby
mapping the sequence of events depicted in the animation onto the sequence of problem
states in the process of solving a mathematical problem.
