King Vajiravudh or King Rama VI, reigned from 23 October 1910 – 25 November 1925, was the first Thai monarch to be educated abroad. He spent nine years in England. He also visited other countries in Europe, America and Asia to learn new things and apply them to the development of the country. Those visits also
gave him the opportunity of strengthening ties with members of royal families and
important people in foreign countries and especially with the Super Powers. This also made his name and that of the country known on the international scene, resulting in his being accepted by the world community.
