The American Nurses Association’s (ANA) American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is the home for the esteemed Magnet Recognition Program®(ANCC, 2008). The focus of this program is to recognize nursing services in health care organizations that provide excellent nursing care and attract and retain professional nurses. The process of MagnetTM recognition uses appraisal of the 14 Forces of Magnetism, which are qualitative factors first identified in 1983 via research and derived from evidence-based knowledge and the ANA’s (2004) standards of nursing practice for nurse administrators.
