In 2006, Ban Luk Wood Carving was chosen as the OTOP Village Champion (OVC) of the year by the Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior. Ban Luk Village perfectly exemplifies the historic village which has a long, unique history of wood carving as well as a traditional lifestyle of indigenous people, the wood carving profession that pride themselves on their technically-demanding skills to make an independent living. The villagers in Ban Luk Village, which is located in Na Krua Sub-district, are publicly acclaimed for their excellent wood carving credentials amongst Thai people and a majority of foreign tourists. Local wisdom and traditional knowledge of Ban Luk Village have been passed from generation to generation, including instructions on creating a wide range of animal wood carving products as well as instructions on introducing new product development.
