A father’s task is to set the pattern for his children’s obedience. He is regarded as the authority in the home while the disciplining wife is the extension of that authority. To fulfill a father’s task, two things must be established. First, what a father must do: He is not to provoke the children to anger. He is not to over discipline or discipline them in anger, making children react in blind rage. Second, the father should teach his children godly values. This involves continuous commitment for as long as the child is in the care of his parents. The father must prove himself responsible.
Another important ingredient is love. A father must, first and foremost, love his children just as God the Father continues to prove His unconditional love for us.
