The experiments examined actual referees’ judgments of aggressiveness of football teams wearing
black- or white-colored uniforms, and college students’ choices of games varying in
aggressiveness (e.g., ”dart gun duel,” “block stacking”) after putting on black or white
uniforms. In addition to illustrating an ingenious use of nonreactive measures based on
archival data, the Frank and Gilovich article is a nice illustration of the multimethod
approach to hypothesis testing.
