Official meeting with the ASEAN +6 members is imminent
From the 26th - 28th February 2013, the ASEAN+6 members meet in Bali to negotiate the potentially world's largest free trade area under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
It is planned to complete negotiations by the end of 2015. If the FTA is successfully established, ASEAN can be the center of all Asian economic connections. In the negotiations are in addition to the 10 ASEAN countries, six countries with partly enormous economies: China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand.
The RCEP is to determine, inter alia, the liberalization of trade, services, investment and cooperation on intellectual property to trade barriers and to increase competitiveness.
