As Callie and her students complete more sentence gardens during
the lecture, Callie makes sure she stops every three to five minutes to
allow students to process what they have learned. To facilitate processing, Callie asks students different styles of questions after each new
sentence garden is complete. Callie’s questions are as follows:
· What are the questions we use to expand our sentences? (Emphasizes recall)
· Can you expand the sentence “Butterflies fly”? (Emphasizes
application)
· How is writing a sentence like planting a garden? (Emphasizes
metaphorical thinking)
