A man went on a rampage with a machete and a can of wasp spray inside the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport before he was shot by a law enforcement officer Friday night, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said.
There were no life-threatening injuries to anyone other than the suspect who was shot. A TSA officer was struck in the arm by a bullet fired by law enforcement, he said. Law enforcement later recovered a Molotov cocktail from the car of the suspect, later identified as Richard White, 63.
Normand said White approached a security checkpoint just before 8 p.m. (9 p.m. ET) and was challenged by a TSA officer.
